What this site is
The pages here describe how transition zones between land and water are cared for — reed belts along lakes, the water balance of garden and village ponds, and the salt marsh and mudflats of the North Sea coast. The aim is to explain how these settings behave and what restrained, season-aware maintenance involves.
How content is written
Notes are written in a plain, descriptive style. Where exact figures are not reliably known, the text uses neutral wording rather than inventing numbers. Photographs are drawn from Wikimedia Commons under their respective Creative Commons licences, with attribution given in each caption.
What this site is not
This is an informational site. It does not sell products, and the notes are not a substitute for professional environmental, legal or coastal-protection advice. For protected areas, the relevant authority should always be consulted before any intervention.
